went to Stampaway USA 2010 today which is a huge rubber stamp art convention here in town... i've planned my outfit for days and (bamp, ba, dump!) a lady came up to me while i was shopping and said 'sweetheart (i'm 38 and i love when older people call me sweetheart #1) i just have to tell you- you have the best outfit here' i giggled and let her know how much that means to me as she smiled sweetly and went back over to her group of women... ahh... really i love when that happens. did i mention the lady who followed me into Nordstrom's ladies room (well not followed but walked in behind me) and started a conversation about my thrifted Vera Bradley pants and how not everyone could pull off that outfit but she loved it? no. well another giggly moment in styleland...
on to the outfit. the lace overlay blouse is thrifted, the turquoise cami from consignment miami, the skirt thrifted last weekend (i discovered this morning it is actually an asian slip but whateva). i made the 'create' necklace at the Akron convention at Darcie's booth. the charm necklace i add to every year at the Paula Best booth and just add beads... well this time Paula added some beads of her own to hold my big ones in place- thanks Paula! really Paula and the other girl in her booth were so friendly we chatted about dogs getting skunked while she reworked my necklace..
i wanted a better pic of yesterday's necklace i made several years ago with the back of a domino and the print on that tank- love it!
i just realized this necklace from last friday's consign sale ($4.) is actually not one circle but more like a tasseled rope- which i really like now!
and now on to those convention photos... i'll unpack my bags tomorrow and show the trades and purchases...
i purchased this stamp set from Darci's
also purchased the gem to make this glass pendant necklace.. i'll have to post the company tomorrow as i can't quite remember. i know they were new... something like Reel? or Red Reel?
Artful Illusions is one of our favs.. always beautiful jewelry and booth design...
i bought a stamp from this booth too... DP Artwork i believe... i'll have to hyperlink these tomorrow when i unpack their business cards...
B Line Designs also always goes over the top with booth designs... speaking of booths i really don't understand the companies who come to an ART convention and don't make any effort to jazz up their booth creatively or themselves for that matter. really you don't feel both of those are a blank canvas?
i did pile on the jewelry today but hey i knew the art convo attendees would appreciate it and yes i got no less than 5 comments on the jewels alone... yes i am aware i get way too much gratification out of strangers commenting on my attire. i'm alright with that.
look closer did you see that bird ring? last weekend purchase at Wholly Craft in Columbus. handmade sister! i made the bracelet on the left a few years ago.
when i dropped my mom off my papa gifted me with a bucket of what we call tommytoes... i ate them all the way home so the bucket is running a little lower than originally gifted.
after the convo we ate at Macaroni Grill and ran around to the usual... Anthropologie, DSW, etc. not too much new but i did spent way too much time at Sephora but then came back to reality with a short trip to Goodwill (50% off day!) i did pick up some mags at Joseph Beth Book Sellers that feature some fellow bloggers. Rachel is in Bust Magazine. Adored Austin is in Lucky. and well harry is on the cover of Entertainment and my new favorite blog is probably in Artful Blogging. well i mean i don't know who it is yet but i'm lookin.
the goodwill haul... a stovetop roaster from Guardian Service (that, thanks a quick google search, seems pretty popular and worth about $50. - not bad for $4.). i've read prep already but didn't have a copy. and the green glass is a water bowl for marina to be placed in the master bath. she loves to have water during the night.
when i finally pulled in the driveway the lighting outside was fantabulous so marina and i grabbed a blanket and the mags and took advantage of it in my jammies...
