Friends...

I finished The Tenderness of Wolves by Stef Penney after I came back from book club this evening. several of the ladies claimed this was our best book of the year (we plan our next 'year' in August). my favorite was Love in the Present Tense but this one was good. deeper than some of our light reads this year (Dead Until Dark) but also such a mix of mystery, love, adventure, etc. now back to The Time Traveler's Wife... i have got to tie up some loose ends before monday's workday.

my girlfriends who traveled to italy this summer graced me with a book club tote and a murano glass necklace when they told me how much they missed me :)

i made hubs turn around so i could take this picture on our way home yesterday... seriously i thought it was laughable... my boys said 'what it's a derby car?" like that explains a for sale sign on this pile of metal... then hubs says 'don't put the pic on facebook it's probably someone we know :)'... yep, probably

we had such good eats at book club today... braided bread with warm chicken salad, asparagus melts, these gluten free sweet treats with coconut... my favorite of the day. and she had the makings of arnold palmers my fav drink of choice!

her husband lurked in the background setting out the food... taking our plates... cleaning up the kitchen after us.. then retreated to the upstairs during our discussion and then returned to take a group pic of us trailing up their staircase... an ancient quilt draped over the banister, an antique farming implement hooked on the wall. her husband said it was his great grandfathers. wow. i love when families have passed these items down and when their family appreciates them. ahh.
