Day 23 of 75

Day 23 of summer. really? almost a month has gone by and i have been so busy i am barely relaxed yet... another reason i started blogging is because i thought it would help me write down how i spend my days... for the longest time i was blogging everyday and catching details but lately not so much... i need to get back to that it helps me see time and the importance of not getting too busy cleaning and checking off the lists that i'm not enjoying the day...

some cute packaging ideas from Oh Hello Friend...

i finished The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz... it is one of our fun reads for book club this summer. i didn't think it was going to be so good when i started it but it was fun after i gave it a chance. a quirky story of a 20 something girl private investigator who struggles with her family of private investigators. a fun romp through some cases with a few cases and romances mixed in...

Day 16 of 75 Days of Summer

a cute bedroom pic from oh hello friend

today's entry from ohhellofriend is an inspirational breath of fresh air. this image came via 100 layer cake

lulu's new lookbook has a skirt that looks a whole lot like the target version i bought via goodwill earlier this spring...

i finished Man with Farm Seeks Woman with Tractor: the best and worse personal ads of all time by Laura Schaefer. it's one of those books i picked up somewhere for who knows what reason. it lends itself to just laying around and being picked up for years to just read a few lines. good small bite read.

started reading That Extra Half an Inch: hair, heels and everything in between by Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice. i picked this up at one of the charity shops we visited in Akron. it's a bit of a let down. lots of telling you what she's gonna say, saying it and then repeating it in bigger type on the page. but fashion tips, etc so light reading...

I love all things Margaret Atwood and here is another reason why...

In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt. ~Margaret Atwood

ran across the term 'bon vivant' yesterday while reading something, jotted it down then found out today it is yet another definition of me :)

bon vivant (French) [bɔ̃ vivɑ̃]

n pl bons vivants [bɔ̃ vivɑ̃]
a person who enjoys luxuries, esp good food and drink Also called (but not in French) bon viveur [ˌbɒn viːˈvɜː]
[literally: good living (man)]

Day 14 of 75 Days of Summer

I started and finished The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest on the beach last week (thanks S. for letting me take your copy and decorate it with suntan oil, lemonade and sand :) ). and i have to say - wow. this guy has got it going on and i can only hope his family and his life partner can come to some agreement to let us see what else he had planned for the series before he died.

I also read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith and it was fabulous too. very well stated and so resonate to our whole book club. we range in age from 30's to 60's and we all felt like it was talking to us.

this morning i sat quietly on the back porch with the boys and marina while the boys sighted (?) in their bows and shot targets. then i went to work today for a few hours and found myself reading my email, listening to podcasts, talking on the phone and reading from my clipboard of 'catch up reading' all at the same time... upon realizing this i hung up, sat the clipboard down, stopped the podcast and just finished the email. geesh work is so addictive. how quickly the beach tranquility was left behind. i vow to slow down this summer (after the next vacation) and learn to take this with me back in the fall.

i tried sushi Sunday for the first time. we were with some friends who i would never have guessed were fans of sushi when the topic came up. we sauntered over to the Kroger sushi bar and purchased a few items. then proceeded to picnic in the suburban with sushi. yumsters. however bub did not like and hubs said no way. plan on doing this the right way later this summer when we are all back in town.

Summer Invasion Day 2 of 75

summertime and the living is easy... in summerdresses and flip flops!

i went to pick up in bub's room today and found his little toy soldiers guarding his valuables...
one perk of organizing graduation is take home flowers... i disassembled the main center piece that looks like a grave site flower arrangement and utilized Elsie's idea of using the thermoses...

these individual roses hubs pulled out of the trash because they were hideously spray painted silver. he painstakingly pulled off the outer layer and put them in a pitcher. such a patient guy...
the stormy skies last night were beautiful...
we had dentist's appointments today... the dr. said bub had beautiful big teeth coming in that were going to give him a perfect smile... after we visit the ortho next week to make sure he doesn't want to help them along a little... then i went to book club where we ate strawberry salad and Death by Chocolate truffle... mmm.
