Cookies!

Friday…
today was our annual Christmas cookie making day. Usually Sally, Sue, Louisa, Kathleen, Kathy, Margaret and I all get together and make cookies to exchange. This year Kathleen wasn't interested, Sally had family things, Sue went on vacation and that left Kathy, Margie and Me for the morning with Louisa coming late. I miss everyone making it a priority. Poo.

Came home picked up the pooches, went to get Bubs from his date, swung through McDonalds-yuck, came home and trying to put things back together. Listing books, organizing books, printing interest,
went upstairs to find Hubs had made the bed ?!?!? that never happens when I leave before he does. He went fishing. 20 degrees and half the lake is frozen and he's fishing.

They got the pontoon in and then the boys headed to visit an old friend, leaving me to gather my senses.

From Wednesday...
Yesterday little man got his temps to drive. Old. Scared. Really nervous. I don't think I'll ever sleep again.

We were in his room cleaning and lounging and he said, "I have a secret to tell you. Promise you won't tell dad?" Ouch, but of course I promised and worried this could be serious.
"You know that spoiled milk he drank? I had it in my room for a long time and I put it in the fridge."
Hilarious. This is the secret I like keeping!

Watching November Christmas on Hallmark. First great one of the season. A tearjerker for sure.

Sunday night Bubs made Libierian Rice Bread (like banana nut bread) and it was delicious! He made it all by himself.

Lived fully

We went to early service this morning because Bubs is going on a photo shoot with his girlfriend. Can't wait to see those pics.

Hubs was talking about cussing today at dinner. Asked my opinion. Don't think he liked my answer. Drinking, cussing, and such- how does that rank with how you treat someone? If someone.. not my husband I promise… doesn't drink or cuss but does not reflect the love of Jesus to others, coworkers, family. Rather he drank and cussed and treated others and his family with love? Absolutely. Why do we equate drinking and cussing with those who don't know Jesus? I say that as I sit here with my computer, a good book and some spirits to imbibe. I don't think that reflects poorly on my relationship to Christ. But if I ignored my family, talked to them like dirt, treated them poorly and didn't imbibe then that's ok? That's Christlike? It's complicated. No I don't think I should go around cursing like it is normal conversation but I don't think cursing makes me a hypocrite when I pray or talk to others about Jesus. I don't. I think I can have a glass of wine while sitting next to someone and talk about how our spiritual lives. Why not? I'm not drunk with wine, I'm drinking a relaxing beverage. I think we are screwed up as a society deciding what is right or wrong for others while we spend way too little time living our authentic lives.

Reading Unbroken by Hillenbrand for book club Thurs. I'm entangled in tartan throws, two dogs and pillows while the fire roars to our left and I keep seeing leaves fall beyond the picture window. I'm sipping a concoction called Bonfire, smelling a candle titled Cabin Fever and hearing the fire crackle. I'd say its a pretty good day.

I want to work on being more honest. Saying what I'm thinking instead of having nothing to say. One life. Lived fully.

Thankful Posts on Facebook

Day 9  Yesterday's thankful post- I'm thankful for where we've made our life. Blanchester has given us good jobs, good friends and a community where 'everybody knows your name'.

last catch up Day 8 Thankful for these thankful posts. Seriously! Knowing I'm going to post one makes me look for the good in the day. Something will happen and I'll think, "Oh! I'll make this my thankful post today!" and then something else will happen and I'll say, "No! This will be my thankful post!" I'm thankful I have so much to be thankful for! (and for exclamation points  )
catching up Day 7… I am thankful for my students… this morning a student came in and read her college essay to me and it is BEAUTIFUL and this afternoon a student came in and read aloud to me a page from Dracula that I gave him last week, "Isn't that beautiful language Mrs. Lovin?" yes, yes it is… then I watched another student greet our vets and get their information for our program today and she just shined in her element. I love to see them find their place and take charge. BTW Jeff Glass that last one was your daughter! She did such a fantastic job today
.
Missed Day 6 Thankful post… I love, love, love working at Blanchester High School with friends who have become family. Several days this week I found myself an hour after school, standing in the hall talking with friends about books, tv shows, life and such. Yesterday I was job shadowed by a librarian from another district who reminded me how blessed I am that staff and students come to the library for help AND that my admin make it so I can help them. It's a wonderful life and job and I am thankful. Not even going to try to tag you all!
I missed Day 4's Thankful post so… I am so thankful that we get to ride together to school again, post football. Basketball practices are much shorter so I stick around and John is coaching) AND that today we saw 2 coyotes on our favorite road and 1 was about the size of Marina our lab mix (70lbs-ish) GORGEOUS!!!
Day 5 thanksgiving - The pups and I are thankful for our daily walks especially at this beautiful time of year... Crunchy leaves, lovely breezes,

Day 3 I am so thankful Harbor Lovin spent the day with me at church and then shopping. I came out with 2 pair of socks while he made out like a bandit but a sharp dressed one! We had lunch and dinner together with lots of shopping in between. I'm thankful that our taste in clothes is close and that we enjoy each other's company. What a fabulous day with a THE greatest kid a momma could ask for.
Yesterday's Thankful post- I'm thankful for lazy Saturdays that I don't leave my house but instead recharge from a busy week and get ready for the next. For watching old movies and playing boardgames with the guys (even though I lost every one) and making s'mores and cuddling with the pups under a tartan blanket while the fire roars in front of us. Lovely, lovely day.
So I missed yesterday's kick off of Thankful posts… I love to craft and I'm very thankful I have such good friends who like to craft with me. It's inspiring and therapeutic to be with a group of people who knit, needlepoint, stamp, and bead along side each other.

Yesterdays

Why is it I don't post much except on lazy saturdays?
I caught up on Facebook and Pinterest sitting before the fire.
Working on my novel and incorporating romance into it.
Watching The Host. Not so good Al.
Still catching up on Revenge.
Fixed some pizza bites for the boys and a green smoothie for myself.

And then forgetting the post until the next day!!

Last Saturday

Ahh November…
I rang in the new month yesterday by hosting a crafty evening. Mom, Yo, Marg, Kathy, Bev, Jan, and I met up about 4 and knit, needlepointed, stamped, and beaded our little hearts out. Oh and I cooked up some Pinterest recipes. Tomato Tortelini soup, fall sangria, fall chex mix, Lovely.
Mom and Yo pulled in the lake just before me and as I followed them across the dam I wondered why Yo was slowing down. Then I saw her taking a pic with her phone. Yep we are sisters.
This perfect saturday morning I drew a cuppa and sat down to check facebook after being off for a few days.
I put on a mulled cider wax tart and then later couldn't figure out where that smell was coming from.
Watching You've Got Mail and dreaming about a Starbucks Tall Skim Caramel Macchiato.
I joined up National Novel Writing Month to spur me on to getting that novel on paper.
Now I'm at my studio table getting my craft on...
listening to the pinterest thanksgiving playlist....
