Stella!

I missed my blog birthday this year!! February 28th we turned 2. What a lovely, therapeutic, introspective ride.

Yesterday I went to a lecture by this lovely woman, Marguerite Levy- Feibelman. She lived through World War 2 as a Jew. She wrote Whisper Your Name into My Ear which I will be reading TODAY. That's her son in the foreground. He is a professor at Chatfield College who hosted the event.
Tuesday I received this pic in my texts... she was headed to the pound if someone didn't come get her.
Guess who decided she wanted a friend...
Then someone who said he didn't want her suddenly said he was naming her Stella...
And he said he was going to raise this one...

Yesterday we took her for her first walk and it well better than could even be expected. Marina is a very good friend. She shows her where to sniff and such.

I finished reading Delirium by Oliver, author of Before I Fall, and it was another enjoyable dystopian young adult novel. I will freely recommend it to lovers of Matched, etc.

John and I have been coleading a small group this month. Two weeks ago we shared our "Life Map" with the group. The idea is to get to know people on a more personal level in a small setting. It was good. I was nervous but it flowed and I think people saw us as more relate able afterward. It's been a long time since we've been in a group with friends who talk about God and how he has worked in our life. It felt good. It was really touching when one of our former students now there with his wife spoke up in the group and said he knew us a long time and even when he was in school he remembers the thought, "These are good people." Can't get a better compliment than that really.

Kick it!

Kicking off spring with new (to us) track shoes... we also went to Bob Ronkers for meet day new (to anybody) shoes.
Spending alot of days from daylight to dark at work so here is a very awkward photo of my mockingjay pin outfit taken in office with my iphone....
 Warmer weather outfit inspiration
Me and Margy waiting for Hunger Games to begin...

Hub's made me a mockingjay tee for the event
Loved the movie. They did a good job. A few problems 1- the shaky video effect made me dizzy. This is not a Jason Bourne fight. 2- the intro. not sure of the technical term but people get paid good money for a better led in. 3- the cornicopia, but it grew on me by the end of the movie 4- the relationship between Rue and Katniss, not enough play up in the movie to get the right feel for it. BUT I'm happy with the overall effect.

Margy and I went goodwilling pre show and I found a few treasures pics to come later. Picked up an Ann Taylor skirt that is fabulous, and INC red coat with floaty sleeves and a thermos I would have hated leaving behind.

Bub's and I went fishing at the beach. Ok he fished, Marina rushed into the water after geese and I sat freezing trying to read.

new fav pic of the year

Last week stopped in Ulta. I ended up with Boscia B.B. Creme, what I went in for, and Hunger Games polish and new lip polish. I'm really loving the B.B. creme. It does exactly what it should- treat skin, moisturize and make a new base. And since it has SPF it will take me through summer. Also picked up bareMinerals Pretty Amazing Lipcolor in Charisma. I'm liking it- not sure about just how pink it is yet.

I moved several pins onto my I Did It board this week! That's the point right?!?

Reading Delirium.. a YA distopian novel. Feels like all I read these days.

Hunger

Some moments of late...
a new restaurant

a new obsession with Epiphany Crafts little bubbles
a new way to import old photos into instagram
a new way to wear a scarf
a new (to me) pair of Pradas

 lots of gorgeous sunrises

one of the reasons students love the library? the thrill of finding the penny. It's funny how a newbie will come in pick it up and say, "what happens if I find the penny?" "I put your name on a list on my bulletin board." "That's lame." then they spend the next 30 minutes searching for the penny and proudly show me and ask me to put their name on the board.

Please momma when can I go in?
Drive your tractor to school day

Another Moby meeting that was food for the soul with this great gal.
A welcome end to dodgeball drama. Harbor ended up on a team taking second place.
Marina finished off her frosty paws
I made something off Pinterest! Yeah its not just for pinning!

 Hunger Games lead in
Winter Jam 2012 listening to Kari Jobe. Amazing.
Soon summer will be here and things will slow down. They will.
Last night I went to see Hunger Games the movie and it was good. Several problems with it but more good than not.

The Ides of March? Really?

Gotta slow down and remember why I started blogging. To slow down.
Missed an OOTD pic from February...
My view 8 hours a day...
 Our newest obsession... Scramble
Last night we met friends at Don Pablo's before attending Winter Jam 2012. WJ has been around for more than a decade and I am horrified that I've missed it but I plan to go back next year with more people! Skillet, Sanctus Real, Keri Jobe, New Song.. good stuff~
Apparently I've entered into a reading competition with a coworker/friend this year.
I turned her onto Shelfari last year and she saw me set a goal. She set a goal and now she's kicking my butt! So anywho lately I've reading...

The Gazebo- Grayson
A romance suggested by a teenage boy. Yeah. That's why I read it. And its ok.
            Leviathan- Westerfeld
My first steampunk. Good but not great.
            Skinny B* at Home
I read her first book and this is more of the same. I love her. It. The whole thingamageig.
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn- Twain
Started over a year ago. Again astounded at the readability of the classics. Funny stuff.
Murder is binding- Lorna Barret
Picked up from the public library and I like it. Fun fluff.
Scott Pilgrim: Vol. 1 Precious Little Life
Another teenage boy recommendation. Again. Ok.

Friday night shopping led me into Ulta for BB creme. Cashier didn't know what I was asking for but another worker did. They didn't have the brand I asked for but I bought a different one and I like it/love it. Then I stumbled on  Hunger Games nail polish to go with my Hunger Games pin I've worn all week.
Added some images from Instyle April 2012 to my Pinterest because its an awesome issue!

I see that I never commented on the Clothing Swap I went to last month. Maybe that's because it was a major fail. Seriously. Talked up online then didn't follow through. Won't return. Why? Stained clothes with holes in them, ripped, shredded even. Old. Shrunk. Disgusting. I got maybe 2 items then grabbed my own stuff and left. Pitiful.

We have coworkers whose 4 yr old has cancer. A complete change of perspective. I'm not saying much on this front but I'm feeling it.
