Summer Time

Watched The Back Up Plan with Jennifer Lopez. Entertaining but corny along the lines of The Wedding Planner. Some really hilarious spots surrounding by stupid scenes.

Monday night we took the boat out with about an hour of daylight left and I started reading Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali. This is not going to be a light, entertaining read. This is going to be a hard one to stomach.

We made Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade via MyRecipes.com we added vanilla and it is so like Sonic's yumminess.

Ingredients

• 3 cups quartered strawberries
• 1 cup cold water
• 1 tablespoon sugar
• 1 (6-ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate, undiluted
• 2 cups sparkling water, chilled

Hub's and I watched 2 Jesse Stone movies with Bub's was at a friend's house. I had seen Stone Cold a few years before so I worked around while that one was on, then sat down to watch Death in Paradise. When I looked the series up I realized I've missed quite a few so I'll be on the look out for those.

Last week Bub's and I watched Battle Los Angeles at Yo's house. It was just the kind of movie he likes but not so much my style. Sacrifice for couch time with Bub's.

My girl is so glad to have us (somewhat) home for summer.

She even went on her first vacation last weekend when Bub's had a fishing tourney in Columbus. She stayed with Hub's when my parents and I visited the local farmer's market.

 We stopped at a few yard sales while Bub's was on the lake fishing and came across this amazing log cabin on a suburban street.

 I brought Bub's back a cupcake from Diva Desserts at the Clintonville Market.

 Unfortunately for him I did not see the lettuce was made of coconut. Fortunately for me it was :)

 Bub's went with me to Yo's to meet the new baby... Harley is another rescue.

 We visited Orange Leaf for the first time and it was scrumdidilylicious.

 I picked up this deliciousness (the cupcake not The cupcake) at The Sweeterie by the Dilly Deli where we had book club.

 An OOTD when I took Bub's to work Paddlefest.

 Saturday the girls picked me up to go to Findlay Market.

 Afterwards the boys picked me up to go to my brother in law's father's services. This is a wonderful picture of all of his kids including my BIL in the middle.

 Yesterday after spending 6 hours fishing in the rain Bub's still went with me to a friend's house and continued to fish. Of course it was sunny by then. How lovely are these radishes? Too bad I realized I'm not a fan of the peppery taste.

 I feasted instead on the bread from Findlay and some bruschetta salsa.

 I entertained M while she tried her hand at stuffed poblano peppers.

 And I am so gonna make this zuchinni pasta sauce goodness.

I've been doing some reading lately. One of the benefits of summer.

The Night Bookmobile by Neffinger is a short, surprising graphic novel by the author of Time Traveler's Wife. It is... different.

Ice Cold by Gerritsen I finished in 2 days. The author created The Rizzolli and Isles characters on TNT and they differ greatly from the TV series.

The Awakening Land: The Trees by Richter is a classic based in the Ohio valley before it was settled. Good historical fiction that makes me so glad to be a woman living today and not back when we did all the work and the men made all the decisions.

Griffin and Sabine by Bantock is another 'graphic' novel. Maybe more like an illustrated story or a story written in art. Postcards to be more specific. Interesting.

Life is Good by Koontz or actually Koontz's dog. Main idea is just to enjoy life. Cute.

I missed an outfit from early June...

A rainy Sunday at Rocky Fork Lake for Bub's fishing tourney. The weather forecast has been so off lately when we checked last night it wasn't supposed to rain until 1pm. We were up at4am and it has been raining since. Although it sounds awful I really don't mind. I'm stationed in the truck with my iPad, a stack of magazines, a few books and snacks. The boys tried to talk me into leaving marina at home by she was at home all day yesterday and tourneys sometimes takes us away for 12 hours... And it wasn't supposed to rain. Rocky fork is a park too so I thought it was going to be a little different than a parking lot surrounded by high grass. Not so much. So any who the rain is soothing and I've already napped.

Yesterday the girls picked me up to make a trip downtown Cincinnati to Findlay Market. I could do my grocery shopping there every Saturday. Micro greens, peaches, tomatoes, herbs, bread, sausages, cucumbers... Not to mention waffles and brownies!

Then the boys picked me up to go to my sister's father in laws visitation. This guy was a super athlete playing softball into his 70's.

From there we took advantage of sonic's Happy hour with a sparkling strawberry vanilla lemonade on the way to Cookout Cancer in Pleasant Plain for Hub's aunt. There must have been a thousand people who came out.

From there we went home to pick up Marina then took the pontoon across the lake to a lake Concert for a little bit before preparing for today. Craziness but inevitable.

Slow down!

I can't believe I've been on summer break for almost 5 weeks now and I haven't picked up on blogging. Reminder... slow down.

After I came back from the beach we left again for Bub's fishing tournaments and then as soon as we came home Bub and I went to visit Yolanda and see the new addition to their pack.

I had book club at The Dilly Deli Wednesday. Bub's and I worked a fund raiser Thursday and then met friends for Hub's birthdaythat evening. So I'm going to slow down when?

Big sexy

I forgot to mention yesterday the book Heaven is for Real. No matter your religious feelings this book asks/answers a lot of questions. It gives hope and perspective. When I feel skeptical I think surely this family who almost lost their son would not temp God to take him from them again by stretching the truth in any way.

That being said on to the title of today's post. Driving to work yesterday I saw the usual- horses, goats, cows. I am more likely to see a tractor than a car. Then out of a side street comes a white Lincoln with tinted windows and a decal in the back window BIG SEXY. Seriously you must be lost.

Elsie from Beautiful Mess posted a page of her closet. Coolness.

I finished Undead and Unwed by Davidson. Very much more steamy than my usual fare. But good. Obviously since I finished it. I'm a little behind on my reading for the year and this is one of my most important summer goals. Catch up!

Last night I watched Deep Blue Sea, again. I love that movie. Then I turned on Sleepless just as background while I read upstairs. The boys come home tonight thank goodness. I miss those guys.
