BOOK CONVO

I love the anticipation of the students having a book conversation.
I love when I say oh this is sooo much better than the miniseries and he says, 'there's a mini series....'
Oh he wrote that? I thought it was just a movie! I love that movie! What else did he write?
Good talking to you...

I've been down the planner rabbit hole now for almost a year and here's what I know....

Snow day..

On our snow day off Hubs and I watched Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit- not so great. I won't remember any of it. Luckily I cruised Facebook and Pinterest while watching.

This morning Hubs made eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy while I tried to salvage my cards I started for the card exchange. The cards didn't work so back to square one.

Snow Day # !@#$

But, alas, the State of Ohio has given us 4 more days on top of the 5 we already had and a possible 3 more using Blizzard Bags so it isn't as painful as usual.
We slept in, as usual, and then Hubs made gravy, biscuits, scrambled eggs, bacon and OJ for breakfast while Bubs and I played Campbells Alphabet game in the kitchen. These are the days memories are made from. I did some laundry and cleaning up but we just eased back into another game with the three of us. Bubs traveled upstairs to his XBOX and then would drift back down to play with us. Last night we watched The Departed then today Hubs suggested we put in the You've Got Mail DVD. Later I turned on The Bone Collector while we played another game. I went back to watch Sherlock because I fell asleep watching it the first time. I'm hoping this isn't the end of the season. Again. Way too short.

Yesterday a co-worker of mine, not a teacher, commented on the coming snow/ice/sleet storm. 'Well usually no matter what you'd know where to find me, but now with the new grandson, I'm not coming to work! I used to not have anything else to do!' I am always taken aback at people who have no hobbies...

Pinterest Day

Yesterday G came to visit since I'm sequestered here with Sam. It was nice. She brought her dog Ginger and we took the dogs swimming. I was a little nervous Sam was going to take off swimming across the lake but he did ok. Actually he absolutely loved it!

Today is July 4th and I'm staying home. Again. With Sam. The boys went to town for the 4th of July festivities. I do hate to miss that. We see everybody and its quite nice.

Watched Sahara Monday. I think I've seen it before but not all the way through.
Also watched the first Pirates of the Caribbean.

Being home I've made some Pinterest projects lately...

Unplugged

Big storm came through Friday night...

No electric from 5pm Friday until noon on Saturday. If it weren't for the fridge and freezer I wouldn't be concerned. We finally took our fridge contents to a friend with a generator about 10pm. The freezer was fine for less than 12 hours. The more disturbing is how much I missed the internet/cable. No email or facebook or pinterest or blogging. I do this every morning in the summer. Soooo...

I cleaned out the fridge on Friday before the electric went out and the boys came home with groceries, of course, that's probably what triggered the storm :)
Saturday I cleaned out the food cabinets and spice drawer. Lots of expired food stuffs. Wiped it all down and put back.
I also sorted all my printed photos but I needed the internet to put them in order so I'm doing that today.
The boys and I watched I am Legend and Book of Eli.
At one point we all were outside, checking out the garden, brushing out the dogs... amazing what no cable/internet will do.

Sam has settled in and I'm getting tons done. I stayed home from church this morning because from what I've seen so far this guy will not be left alone outside or in. He is a rescue so I, of course, love him and I'm glad we are able to let this family go on their first family vacation. However, he is a rock head. Doesn't know commands. Doesn't recognize the garden. Or the carpet when his ball rolls under the couch. He is house trained so I can deal with the rest. He lays around 90% of the time. The other 10% he's a little neurotic. So 7 more days of being home on the porch, walking/swimming with the dogs, working on the house, scrapbooking etc. I don't mind being at home really. Just a little inconvienenced for church, the 4th and the wedding Saturday.

Less?

Sam has arrived. And he is large. Not so in charge though. Poor guy is shy and homesick. He did fine when S and G dropped him off, kinda moped around until the boys came home and then he acted like S and G came to get him. Then when it was time to go to bed, whew, not so good Al. He whined all night. He cuddled with Hubs some but really not happy. I took them all out at about 4am. No good. He's gonna have a long week. Poor guy.

S has never been to our house before, he was very complimentary. I forget what the lake must seem like on your first visit. It's pretentious looking when you have to be buzzed in and all. Lots of nice houses on the way to ours but there are lots of ranges if you go all over. Once here he kept saying, wow you have a lot of 'stuff'. Yeah more is more I guess. I'm organized and orderly but there every space is decorated. I feel like I've been paring down but really we just have tons of stuff. Not expensive or techy but just stuff we've (I've) accumulated over the years. I bet there is 1000 books here or more. But I don't pay lots of money for my stuff. I keep stuff way past when other people send it on. I have clothes from high school. I have records and used pretty perfume bottles. I have vintage purses and craft supplies to last a lifetime. My stuff in organized. I have everything in its place. The problem is I've run out of space. Especially with clothing and craft supplies. So its kinda piling up. What to do?

The boys got up early this morning to go fish at Rocky Fork. Preparing for a tourney in July. I've got the dogs on the back porch trying to keep them from eating each others food. Poor Sam I think his food might be a little more bland.

I love that Stella wakes up from her nap, seeks me out and slinks over to have her head patted.

Almost three days? Really?

Morning 2 of Morning Pages... this is harder than I thought to immediately get up and type them out. A- people call before I can even get out of bed with a list of questions. B- it's raining and I need to cancel plans I've made outside. C-Tea or Coffee, the maid is out so I must make it myself. D- the pup's are adorable and giving me photo ops.

Speaking of such, coffee with this french vanilla coffee mate is amazing. It can not be good for ya. Oh looky there it isn't. Poop.

I worked in the studio all day yesterday. Well I got distracted. Alot. Like I always do when I don't want to clean. But alas it is clean(ish). And today I need to finish up. Perfect day since it's rainy outside and the boys are coming home.

The boys have been gone for 7 days. I had big plans to deep clean my house. Instead I finally went to Ferrari's Little Italy, painted at art class, enjoyed the weather poolside, visited with my sister and her dogs, visited my parents, met a friend at Dilly Deli, watched Salmon Fishing in Yemen, spent mornings and evenings on the porch with the dogs reading and cruising pinterest and facebook, HOWEVER I have cleaned like a mad woman the last 2 days and there isn't a dirty article of clothing or a dish in my house. Until they walk in and dump a week's worth of fishy clothes on the floor.

Let's talk imprinting. That's the word Tim used when he talked about us getting Stella early enough. My expirence with the word imprinting comes from Twilight's Jacob so I thought it was odd to use that word. And yet... as soon as we got her she would stare into my eyes. She likes to come jump on me then just gaze into my eyes. Odd and yet I think that's exactly what she is doing. Imprinting. You are my mother. Hello.

Yesterday I listened to/watched the Pelican Brief. Forgot how absolutely wonderful it is. Then today The Fugitive. My how we forget all those famous people way back when. Cynthia Nixon, Susan Sarandon,  Jane Lynch, Stanley Tucci, wow.

I just realized I have not seen another human being in over 2 days. Tuesday I came home from dinner and a movie to an empty house. Wednesday I cleaned all day, Thursday I cleaned and then organized all day and now Friday I worked in my studio and am just waiting for the boys to return from their fishing trip. Humm. Didn't even realized it has been over 48 hours with just the dogs. Of course I talk to them and talk on the phone but no one has seen me.

Hoping to do more of this in the days to come...

After watching Marina check out the catch...
 Stella does the same...
I used the umbrella to shield my reading.

Last lecture took us to Mr. Sushi for dinner and their wonderful Plum wine.

Last Saturday Yolanda and I went to Ferrari's Little Italy for dinner with a Groupon.

 Then took an art class.

On our walk some ducks were enjoying someone's pool.
After graduation me and the girls headed to Yo's poolside.
Her Hub's delivered Starbucks in the morning AND cooked us breakfast.

Marina waits for the OK to jump in.

 Refill please!
Started this tome. How about that little heart leaf?
Graduation went well. Of course we had our resident crazies and some harsh words from an uninformed person who made me so angry I almost quit. Then I remembered who I do this for and thought better of it.
 Graduation is exhausting.
Met a friend at Dilly Deli and went to see Salmon Fishing in Yemen. Lovely film. I should go to see Mariemont films more often.
Stella's a fast learner. Sit on her feet she won't move.
