Snowmageddon

Well we'll see. That's what they are calling for anyway. So we are home from school with not so much as an inch on the lawn so far but it should be coming down anytime now.

This has been one hectic week. Monday I spent in Columbus at my favorite consignment store One More Time because of their biannual clearance sale. Then mom and I stopped by a few other boutiques and thrift stores before capping the day off at Anthropologie. I forgot my camera!  I know! So I'll just have to write more than usual. Loving to eat at new restaurants and trying to get home earlier than usual we stopped at WG Grinders for dinner and it was fabulous.

Tuesday (after my car wouldn't start) I had a rough conversation at work so I went in that evening to work for a few hours getting paperwork and statistics together to help out the situation. Only to find out Wednesday that all that legislation has been put on hold with the new Governor. Well poop.

Then Wednesday (after my car wouldn't start again- and yes we charged it) I had more tough conversations at work, then stayed after to work and then catch a ride to a Phi Delta Kappa meeting that evening. Bringing me home at 9:00 pm. Have I mentioned how much I like being home? I don't mind the work. Usually I love my job and the kids and the staff but times are tough for outside reasons and it is a dark depressing time. So I guess after all this God has looked down on me and said, "stay home." And that I shall do.

Feeling Golden

Very poor photo quality today teaching me a very important lesson- TAKE A PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE GOOFBALL!

The past two nights I've headed up to bed early to read. The first night Bub's asked what I was doing going to bed so early.
I'm gonna read in bed.
I'll go. He said.
So we got ready for bed and cuddled up. Heaven. He propped himself up on the big fluffy pillows on his side and said,
I get my own pillow.
What?
Usually when I lay down in here you take all the pillows to read. I get my own pillows tonight.
Awhh.
Then hubs comes up wakes up the pup and sends him off to his own bed. I hope this happens more often. How wonderful it is to have a reading in bed buddy.

OH OH they have a blog!

I did some blog roll cleaning today trying to keep it under 100. I never seem to get through them all in a timely manner so I'd like to focus on the ones I really like. But alas, then I stumble on another I really like and have to add it. I just deleted some slackers who post ' oh so sorry it has been so long' then disappear for another month.

Reading: I started Fallen by Lauren Kate a young adult novel my student book club is reading. I like it. It's young trash so far but it has potential to pull itself out after some early teen lust.

Drinking: Sonic sparkling strawberry lemonade with vanilla. It was a good day.

Eating: Hub's chili

Watching: Y the Golden Globes of course! (after I am Legend went off)

Hibernate

Bub wanted to leave some of his money with me this evening while he went out; he didn't want to risk loosing it. Ok. Well back story here is that he has been blaming me for moving, loosing, misplacing his 'stuff' lately. So I said no. I won't be in charge of anything he has anymore. So he placed it on my table and took pictures to prove 1- that it is here, 2- the date.

 Freak.
I decided to abandon all and go eat grapefruit. Is there another way to eat grapefruit other than smothered in sugar? Because I'm pretty sure this doesn't fit in the Get Skinny resolution plan.

I finished Mennonite in a Little Black Dress by Janzen. Not in love. Not really much in like actually. Just OK. It seems like a book I should love. I love books like it. Especially memoirs but this seemed forced. And kind of weepy in a oh geesh I can't believe I married a guy who would leave me for a guy on gay.com. I just got tired of hearing it. I don't know why I didn't like it. I just didn't. Now how to say that nicely at book club so I don't sound like I never like the books somebody else picks out.

I would really like to hibernate until spring. It's not that I don't like winter or the weather- I like both actually. I just don't want to go out in it. I'd rather snuggle on the couch under a quilt with the fire going. Or sit at my desk and play around on the computer or create something with hours to spend. This will not be happening however as I have a job and a life. But a girl can dream.

If I did hibernate I could probably make headway on this list of the Top 100 Tutorials of 2010. Especially this iPad case.

And maybe check out this book.

I could make a necklace out of the birdcage I already have and make it look like this one via Prima.
I'd check out this newfound blog called the sartorialist.

Maybe make a few cards.

Work on my outfit of the day pictures, incorporating a mirror to show a different angle (although I would never be in anything other than stretchy pants).
 Redecorate.
 And finally...

Que Sera Sera~

It's been a rough week at work. Have I said that a lot lately? Too much up in the air. Que Sera Sera. Move on. It's a holiday weekend.

Somber

I decided to include my outerwear in some post pics because I haven't been paying attention to that lately. I need to up my game. So here is a coat I bought for $5 at a Victoria Secret Warehouse sale a decade ago. I really miss those sales. And my fingerless gloves. Apparently I have no shortage of black and white in my wardrobe.

On a more somber note my hairdressers granddaughter passed away this weekend. We found out tonight the cause was viral meningitis. How very sad. 18 months old. I can't even imagine how the family must be feeling. I sent promises of prayers through my sister who is good friends with her but feel like I should send a card. What in the world can one say at a time like this?

Bub's and I went to practice this evening after dinner. I worked on renewing my certificate while he worked on his baskets. Long, work filled day. Work has been depressing lately with cuts on the horizon. We need a revival. Or doughnuts. Maybe doughnuts will do it.

And now off to bed to read Mennonite in a Little Black Dress. I am so not impressed.

Marina and I started back on our walks to day and were greeted by the carcass of a dead deer absolutely licked clean. Has it been that long?

Ok let's begin again.

Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be. Abe Lincoln
Happiness is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to cope with it.
A few words of wisdom from my daily reading inspirations.

I love these thrifted Jones New York cords I picked up a few weeks ago.

Bubs is enjoying his new Grow a Tree from Urban Outfitters. How does this thing work? He just adds water, it runs up the stem and instantly grows.

These outfit of the day pics are obviously from earlier this week and last since we've now missed 2 days this week. The mood at work has been somber since we were handed a seniority list to prepare for the coming cuts. I feel like this has not been the best start to our new year.

Last year I resolved to grow nails. And I did back in July and August and then well not so much. I've got to gear back up. Today. But the ring looks good!
and the shoes. love the bows.
Wearing affirmative words on my wrist helps to.
and on my ears and neck.

No school yesterday because of lots of snow. I was already dressed and ready by the time they called but whatever. Bubs had a friend over because with the predictions he and his dad decided there was no way we were going. I almost got to say I told you so.

The other day driving out of the lake we passed a squirrel with no tail. Bub asked, ' I wonder what happened?' Hubs replied, 'There's no tailing.' Funny that guy.

Londyn has a nice summary of outfits on her blog.
My Breakfast Blog has a recipe for fish tacos I need to try.

Very cute handmade felt bow from somewhere out there? I am not doing such a great job of seeing things on the ipad and getting them into the posts.

Little girl big closet has a great post on the discussion of if fashion blogging is a self centered time waster. My opinion? No. Creativity will seep out of those of us who thrive on it no matter what the avenue.

What a cute number from Kate Spade.

Oh I like the idea of writing quotes on old thrift paintings.

Life in Grace has a tutorial about making rosettes. Her daughter actually made the tutorial. I found it somehow and then checked back in a few days later to find their home was destroyed by fire right after Christmas. Prayers for Edie.

2011 Goals:
weight loss -2lbs. Pancakes! snow days are challenging. and leftovers, sipping Celestial Sleepytime Green Lemon Jasmine Tea. Once again I need to focus. And start working out in the mornings. Sweating is crucial.
personal plan I've been spending the last two days catching up in order to get back to the plan. unfortunately i know this is how i procrastinate.
be nicer easier to do when you aren't rushing around going to a full time job but still progress
live within my means also easier to do when you are snowed in
creating catching up on blogging by posting pics I've been saving and highlighting bookmarked pages
reading Mennonite in a Little Black Dress
cleaning and organizing laundry is officially caught up. not even a stray sock! Now tomorrow I'll get back on track with the Personal Plan and get things rolling. January 12 without much progress is embarrassing. Excuses excuses.
