gaggle of boys

A gaggle of boys are headed to the house today to help Bub celebrate his 15th birthday. I'm excited because he never has more than 2 people over and hesitant because, well, the same.
Up early on a Saturday and it is sinking in that we have 5 official workdays to go until summer. Again excited and hesitant to get to excited.
Coffee.
I came downstairs and opened the door in the studio for fresh air and it happened. The boys warned me. A bird flew in. I hope it doesn't hurt itself before the boys get up and help it find it's way out.
Reading a magazine, adding books I own to Shelfari and Reading List.

a little late

The boys lifted off at 7am this morning from the Lorelei marina with the fishing team. Bright and early...

Breakfast at The Country Inn with the parents was fun. Some new parents this year so it was good to meet them all. Now back and the bunch of them are out on the pontoon so I came home to decompress, let the dogs out and wait a bit indoors. A tad cold today.

The Cat Who... continued!

Finished The Cat Who Went Into the Closet by Lillian Jackson Braun. Love this cozy series and I'm enjoying reading/listening to them at the same time as a fellow reader friend. She's getting them from the library then we are both listening to it at around the same time. Nice set up ...

Moving closer to my reading goal of the year 70!! Now at 21 I think.

The end of your life

The End of Your Life Book Club by Will Schwable- It will come as no surprise that I loved this book. I'm a better person for having read it. Although it might seem it is about death and dying it is more importantly about life and living. It reminds me to be thankful I am granted another day to wake up and try and get this thing called life right one more day a fact that in my 41 years I am increasingly aware.

I really need to get on the ball and read more. I'm behind in my reading.

I did start a new blog but I'm wondering if I'll keep it or not. I thought it might be more public and share it with Bubs but I haven't discussed it with him. I want to read what he's reading and study what he's studying these next four years. We've got to hone in on those testing skills and get ready for what's to come.

George came over on Friday and we watched the Ken Burns Frank Lloyd Wright documentary. FLWright was a .... butt head. Really!

Today I got up at 8 let the girls out, fed them, made a cuppa then crawled back in bed with the laptop to facebook and Pinterest before getting ready to go watch Bubs weigh in fish at Rocky Fork. It has rained on and off all day.
Now we are all back home and the boys are napping while the girls are playing around and listening to the birds sing in the rain.

It was a great day to stay inside and putter around

I'm hoping that when I get this place cleaned from top to bottom then I'll be able to move decorations around and get rid of all the clutter. Testing in the library today so I'm getting gads of paperwork done.
I'm obsessing lately that Bub will be in high school next year. Four more years ... To eat dinner together, watch movies, talk books, gossip, go to church together, sit on the couch together, say goodnite... Having a hard time with it.
Oh and a quotable line from Jim Quillerin, character in The Cat who went into the Closet.
"It was a great day to stay inside and putter around."

Hocking Hills

Just back from a lovely weekend with great friends and mentors. These ladies are crazy, inspirational and a barrel of laughs. We met at J's and rode into Lancaster for dinner at The Shaw's Inn Restaurant and that was a treat. Micro greens, ramps and a Rosemary Clooney to drink. Good stuff. Then off to the  cabin, Hideaway Cabins, set back into the hillside at Hocking Hills. Cute and cozy. We had some drinks and stayed up talking till late. Saturday we lounged around and drank coffee until someone decided we should eat something! We fixed brie and jam sandwiches, mimosas, dips, chips and goodness knows what else and then went for a long hike out to Old Man's Cave. Crazy beautiful. Today we packed up and drove to Circleville for brunch at Goodwin's Family Restaurant for lunch buffet and pie. Good good times.
"It's my friggin' retirement you bring me food!"
"We need ice cream and we're getting the good stuff non of that crap ice cream!"
