my sis and i visited the new krogers store across from church and picked up some goodies for our mothers day brunch. at her house we grilled filet mignon, kabobs, corn on the cob and then made mac and cheese. i brought the jungle jim's cheese and sausages, grapes, tortilla chips and lots of dips. oh and olive bread and cheese bread. yum it was all wonderful with some vines. afterward we relaxed in her hot tub, checked out her new composter and took cat naps before digging into the desserts... cupcakes, german chocolate brownies, cheesecake, carrot cake and pineapple upside down cake... it is surely a cheat day in every imaginable way. i'll insert pics tomorrow as my hubs has the camera and hasn't made it home yet.
off to the other moms to grill out burgers (i know i was so not hungry but polite) and hang out for a bit (i snuck on the comp for a while and blog cruised)
now i'm home and have forgotten all i wanted to blog today...oh! when is saw my SIL had a Starbucks candy cane straw i told her about bub losing mine. now i loved that stupid straw. i oogled in since nov. asked for it for christmas and the boys waited so long to get it i nearly bought it myself. instead the boys went to several stores to find one and finally had the luck of running into a former student working there who offered to sell them hers out of her locker... then about a month ago i came home to see bubs using my straw in one of his cups!!! he had a friend over so i refrained from showing my true colors of leaping across the table to wrestle it out of his skinny little hands. only to days later notice it is still missing... nothing, no where, i remind him every day how much i miss that stupid little straw.. i am a person who cherished the little things in life. . . until their son throws them away (or in his defense misplaces them or their dad mistakenly throws them away- whatever) he even tried to replace it via amazon... it currently sells for about $70. anywho my SIL opens the cabinet and has like 5! seriously.. she offers to trade is i bring her a plain one... since i nearly break into tears she goes ahead and gives me a long green one to use until i get a new one... i know this seems like such a small gesture folks but it means so much and now bubs can continue on without being hounded about a straw.. well after he replaces the green one with the candy cane one :)
